For the past several years, Berwyn did not have an official sponsor in charge of lighting up the sky on the 4th of July. That is changing in 2016 as the World’s Largest Laundromat will host a fireworks show starting at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 3 at Morton High School West.
The iconic Berwyn business is sponsoring the fireworks as a gift back to the city, and they couldn’t have picked a better time to do so. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the World’s Largest Laundromat reopening after being burned down in a fire, and the Independence Day celebration will serve as a reminder to the community that there is always an opportunity to come back and thrive in the City of Berwyn.
“An event like this is just such a great thing for residents,” said store manager Mark Benson in a news release. “You bring the kids, and it starts to get dark, and the anticipation and the music build and then the sky just lights up. Independence Day fireworks are the centerpiece of summer, and we’re just so proud to bring them back.”
Morton High School West is located at 2400 S. Home Ave., Berwyn. The City of Berwyn Fireworks Show is open to all ages. Patrons attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets as desired.
